Benjamin Sesko will reportedly wear the number 30 shirt at Manchester United. The Slovenian signed a five-year deal with the Red Devils, running until 2030 after his transfer from RB Leipzig for a fee of 76.5 million plus 8.5 million in add-ons this summer.
Sesko impressed last season, scoring 26 goals and providing six assists, and United fans will be hopeful he can replicate that form in the Premier League.
Softfootball understood that United club chiefs fought tooth and nail to recruit the 22-year-old amid strong competition from Premier League rivals Newcastle United . The Magpies presented the more lucrative offer of the two suitors but in the end it was Seskos preference to join Ruben Amorims team.
Man United now have the strikers they desired all summer long and finish a trio of attacking signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo this transfer window.
Following Seskos arrival at United, it has been spotted that fellow new signing Diego Leon has had the number he chose when he arrived earlier this summer changed to No 35 as seen in the picture below.
That decision clears the way for the 22-year-old, who was introduced to fans on Saturday at Old Trafford to take the No.30.
Now, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via his X handle , he has confirmed that the Slovenian international will wear shirt number 30 at Manchester United. His tweet reads:
Benjamin Sesko previously explained why he has sported the squad number throughout his career, and the United new striker could now make his debut for the club in this Sundays Premier League opener against Arsenal .
