bayer leverkusen agree deal with az alkmaar for winger ernest poku

Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly reached full agreement with AZ Alkmaar to sign Dutch youth international Ernest Poku as Ten Hag continue his teams summer overhaul . Medical for the 21-year-old talented winger is scheduled in the coming days.

Softfootball understands that Leverkusen have been looking for reinforcements in their attack following the vast departures in the summer.

While they are still looking for a central player who could fill the space left by Florian Wirtz, Leverkusen have also been looking for a winger to replace Jeremie Frimpong, with Arthur expected to play at right-back.

The deal gained momentum following the European preliminary round against FC Vaduz. Since Alkmaar was unable to secure a longer contract with Poku , who has only one year left on his current contract, they chose to sell him for a substantial sum.

German football expert Florian Plettenberg via his X handle has confirmed that Bayer 04 Leverkusen have completed a deal for Ernest Poku , with a full agreement reached with AZ Alkmaar. The highly rated 21-year-old winger is set to undergo his medical in the coming days before signing a contract that will keep him at the Bundesliga club till 2030. He tweeted:

Poku is known for his blistering pace down the right flank, but his profile is slightly different. While Frimpong operated primarily as an attacking wing-back at Leverkusen, Poku is more of a traditional winger and has not previously been deployed in a defensive role.

Ernest Poku was born in Hamburg, but has opted to represent the Netherlands. Last season, the right-winger scored three and assisted eight in 42 games. We hope he thrives at Bayer Leverkusen.
