As India arrived at New Chandigarh for the second T20I against South Africa, the Proteas put on a mammoth chase in front of the Indians. The Indian head coach made an unconventional decision to promote Axar Patel in the batting order, a strategy that once again misfired.
India started off the T20I series against South Africa with a commanding 100-run victory in Cuttack. Following the win, they arrived in New Chandigarh for the second T20I with no changes to the XI. Kuldeep Yadav was once again not handed a place in the XI.
This was followed by the South Africans, who came into the game with a dominating performance. Quinton de Kock led the South African innings with a stunning start, and the innings was wound up with an extraordinary finish from Donovan Ferreira.
