The Chairperson of the African Union Commission AUC , H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has congratulated the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria following the successful launch of the Alsat-3A Earth observation satellite, describing it as a major milestone for Africa's space and geospatial development.
In a statement, Youssouf said the achievement highlights Algeria's growing leadership in space science and its commitment to applying satellite technology to support sustainable development, environmental monitoring, disaster risk management, and evidence-based policymaking across the continent.
He expressed optimism that the high-resolution data generated by Alsat-3A will strengthen both national and continental development efforts, supporting key objectives outlined in Agenda 2063 as well as the African Space Policy and Strategy.
