The move comes just days after Pakistan's five-wicket loss to the West Indies in the second ODI on August 10, which left the ongoing three-match ODI series level at 1-1.
While the Asia Cup 2025 is beginning on September 9, the T20I Tri-Series against the hosts UAE and Afghanistan is starting on August 29, where the Men in Green are all set to take the field with the fresh pace attack.
Pacer Salman Mirza and all-rounder Ahmed Daniyal are expected to be called up for the T20I Tri-Series, having impressed against Bangladesh earlier this year. Shaheen Afridi is currently playing in the ongoing ODI series against the West Indies.
However, the fast bowler will be given a short break before rejoining the squad in the UAE just before the Asia Cup 2025. On the other hand, Haris Rauf is still recovering from a hamstring injury that he picked up during the Major Cricket League MCL 2025. Rauf will miss the entire T20I Tri-Series for his recovery.
