The Asia Cup 2025 is impending upon the Indian team, and they will be announcing their squad for the upcoming tournament on Tuesday, August 19. Multiple reports regarding several players have been surfacing on the internet, however, renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle is among the earliest to predict an ideal squad of the team India that should travel to the United Arab Emirates for the 2025 edition of the continental event.
First things first, the specialist batters in Bhogle's list includes the likes of Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma - the top two ranked T20I batters currently. Indian captainSuryakumar Yadav is also in the list, while his Mumbai colleague Shreyas Iyer has also found a spot. There were doubts over his participation in the tournament since he has been named in the West Zone squad for Duleep Trophy, but Bhogle believes Iyer should travel to the UAE.
Meanwhile, ace opening batter Sanju Samson has also been named by Bhogle in the squad. He will be seen opening alongside Abhishek and will also be the first-choice wicketkeeping option. As a backup option for Samson, the Hyderabad-born has also named the attacking Royal Challengers Bengaluru stumper-batter Jitesh Sharma. Notably, Jitesh has been with the Indian T20I set-up for quite some time now, and after a fantastic IPL with RCB, Bhogle has included the Amravati-born in the set-up.
