The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has declared Joseph Ikpea of the All Progressives Congress APC as the victor of the Edo Central senatorial by-election.
In the early hours of Sunday, returning officer Kingsley Omo-Iwoze announced the results of the election. Omo-Iwoze said that Ikpea received 105,129 votes, winning against Joe Okojie of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, who garnered 15,146 votes.
Ikpea attributed his success to God and the constituents of the district, who prioritised vision over sentiment and progress over traditional politics.
