The City of Johannesburg council has re-elected Margaret Arnolds as the Speaker of Council.
The AIC candidate was elected by 137 votes. She was nominated alongside the Democratic Alliances Alex Christians who received 68 votes.
And the UDMs Yongama Zingela received 5 votes.
The position became vacant after ActionSAs Nobuhle Mthembu was ousted in a vote of no confidence.
Arnolds was able to reclaim the position with the backing of the ANC and some minority parties. But the ATM and Al Jama-ah broke rank and nominated a UDM candidate.
