The Nigerian government has finally honoured its three-decade-old commitment to housing the 1994 Super Eagles squad members who triumphed in the Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia , according to a statement on the ministry's website on Wednesday.

One of the recipients, former striker Efan Ekoku, received an allocation letter for a house in Abuja. His niece, Lisa Jenifer Nwagbogun, represented him at the short ceremony.

"This gesture not only honours Mr. Efan Ekoku's service but also restores faith in the value of public promises being kept." She said.

The Director and Head of the Department of Public Building and Housing Development, Pemi Temitope, delivered the letter on behalf of the Minister of Housing and Urban Development.

Temitope said the move was part of the governments dedication to acknowledging the patriotic contributions of the team that brought pride to the nation three decades ago.
