South Africans looking to cut entertainment costs without giving up local content now have another option on the table, with the launch of Afree TV , a new free streaming platform focused entirely on African storytelling.
The platform, powered by Sentech ' s Freevision Play service and highlighted in reporting by MyBroadband , officially launched at the end of April 2026 and is positioning itself as a home for African films, series, live TV and radio content, all without a subscription fee.
