Darry Wilken was placed behind bars following a crackdown on child pornography in Johannesburg. Wilkens appeared in front of the Randburg Magistrates Court yesterday, 20 January.
Authorities discovered approximately 10 million images and videos that contained child pornography at a property in Midrand, Johannesburg.
Wilkens was subsequently arrested for alleged connection to the pornographic content. His arrest followed after international law enforcement agencies shared information with the SAPS.
ENCA reported that, upon investigation, it was discovered that Wilkens was responsible for hosting and distributing child pornography on a global scale.
The state is further investigating an amount of R560 000, which was found at the Midrand property. The amount is speculated to be linked to the committed crimes as well as acts of money laundering but this is yet to be confirmed.
