Sen. Dayo Adeyeye, a former Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP says the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari will not affect President Bola Tinubu's chances in 2027.
Adeyeye, Chairman of the Board of Nigeria Port Authority NPA and a former Minister of State for Works, said this while speaking with newsmen on Saturday in Lagos.
He was reacting to commentaries made by some analysts that the Buhari factor aided Tinubu's victory in the 2023 elections and that his death would affect the President's chances in 2027.
The News Agency of Nigeria NAN reports that Buhari secured over 15 million votes in the 2019 elections in the north, a region where he enjoyed a cult following.
NAN also reports that a significant number of the over 8 million votes garnered by President Tinubu in the 2023 elections were secured in the north.
