Minimum Qualification

Qualification allowing registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Staff Nurse

Experience Required

0-20 years in Clinical Nursing / Hospital Ward Care

Requirements

  • Grade 1: No experience required
  • Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognizable nursing experience after SANC registration as a Staff Nurse
  • Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognizable nursing experience after SANC registration as a Staff Nurse

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Execute structured nursing care plans under the direct supervision of a Professional Nurse
  • Monitor patient vital signs and observe clinical reactions to medical treatments
  • Maintain patient hygiene, physical comfort, and psychological reassurance
  • Monitor and manage fluid balance, oxygen therapy, and sensory functions
  • Facilitate the healing of wounds and fractures including skin protection protocols
  • Assist registered medical professionals with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
  • Prepare patients and equipment for ward-specific procedures and anesthesia
  • Provide end-of-life care and support for deceased patients and their families
  • Assist the Unit Manager in maintaining a safe therapeutic environment aligned with National Core Standards
  • Ensure adherence to Ideal Hospital measures and standardized nursing procedures
