Requirements

Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Conduct comprehensive research on applicable policy, legislation, and legal principles to draft formal legal opinions
- Evaluate legislation for compliance with principles of drafting and statutory interpretation
- Liaise with the Office of the State Attorney and manage instructions to counsel/advocates
- Monitor and manage departmental litigation from inception to finalization
- Explore and implement Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) options to mitigate litigation costs
- Draft, verify, and certify departmental contracts and service level agreements (SLAs)
- Provide recommendations on settlement offers and negotiate with opposing legal teams
- Ensure departmental intentions are accurately reflected in proposed or amended legislative bills.
