Minimum Qualification

4-year BSc Agric degree or BAgric Honours degree majoring in Agricultural Economics (NQF level 8).

Experience Required

3 years in Agricultural Economics and Extension Services

  • Proficiency in financial modeling (Cashflow, Income Statements, Balance Sheets)
  • Expert understanding of the Commodity Approach and Land Reform Programmes
  • Project management and research skills
  • Ability to conduct site visits and technical project evaluations
  • High-level reporting and organizational leadership
  • Proficiency in MS Office (specifically advanced Excel for budgeting).

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years experience providing specialist input as an agricultural economist within extension and advisory services
  • Compulsory registration with SACNASP (South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions).

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Compile and interpret enterprise budgets, financial statements, and cash flow projections for agricultural businesses
  • Evaluate and develop comprehensive business plans for agricultural enterprises
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses and economic viability assessments for new and existing projects
  • Provide technical advisory support on land reform, infrastructure, and production economic principles
  • Facilitate training for farmers in financial and production record-keeping
  • Enable market access and ensure farmer compliance with market standards
  • Utilize the Agricultural Information Management System (AIMS) for project tracking
  • Provide inputs to Commodity Project Allocation Committees (CPACs) and Project Implementing Partners
  • Manage human and financial resources within the sub-district.
