Requirements
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide high-level pre-hospital emergency medical care and Advanced Life Support (ALS) interventions
- Oversee operational readiness and clinical compliance for emergency calls
- Render clinical assistance and leadership to Basic (BLS) and Intermediate Life Support (ILS) personnel
- Perform Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) duties and specialized air-medical rescues
- Execute complex inter-facility patient transfers and liaise with hospital staff for authorizations
- Manage the ordering, issuing, and control of scheduled drugs according to HPCSA Clinical Practice Guidelines
- Implement Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) measures within the EMS environment
- Facilitate and oversee in-service training and clinical development for junior staff
- Advise on best practice applications and maintain a positive public image for the department.
