Diploma or Degree in Nursing (R425) plus a 1-year Post-Basic Nursing Qualification in Primary Health Care Nursing Science (R212)

9 years in General Nursing and Primary Health Care Specialty

  • In-depth understanding of the Nursing Act and Primary Health Care legislation
  • Proficiency in the District Health System (DHS) framework
  • Strong operational management skills including planning, organizing, and problem-solving
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Human Resource management practices
  • Advanced conflict resolution, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and perform night duty as required
  • Proficiency in DHIS and basic computer literacy (MS Office)

Requirements

  • Minimum of 9 years appropriate nursing experience post-registration
  • At least 5 years of experience in Primary Health Care obtained after the 1-year PHC specialty qualification
  • Valid driver's license

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide comprehensive operational supervision of the PHC facility in alignment with National Supervision Guidelines
  • Oversee clinical nursing practices to ensure compliance with professional scope of practice and institutional standards
  • Implement and monitor National Core Norms and Standards including the Six Priority Areas of health care
  • Manage quality nursing care delivery in accordance with the defined Primary Health Care service package
  • Act as a patient advocate by ensuring strict adherence to Batho Pele principles and the Patients' Rights Charter
  • Coordinate community participation and stakeholder engagement initiatives to enhance local health service delivery
  • Oversee the maintenance and effective utilization of facility assets, infrastructure, and medical equipment
  • Manage facility information systems, documentation accuracy, and clinical data reporting
