Minimum Qualification

Basic R425 qualification (Diploma/Degree in Nursing) plus a 1-year post-basic nursing qualification in Advance Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science accredited with SANC.

Experience Required

9 Year in Advance Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing

Required Competencies & Skills

  • In-depth understanding of nursing legislation and ethical practices
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Nursing Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Batho Pele principles
  • Proficiency in Human Resource and Financial management policies within a clinical setting
  • Advanced clinical report writing and communication skills
  • Ability to supervise a diverse team with cultural and racial sensitivity
  • Basic computer literacy as a clinical support tool
  • Strong networking and professional relationship-building skills.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 9 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC
  • Minimum of 5 years appropriate/recognizable experience in the specialty after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification in Advance Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Coordinate optimal and holistic specialized nursing care within professional and legal frameworks
  • Manage the effective utilization and supervision of human and material resources within the unit
  • Oversee clinical nursing practices to ensure alignment with the scope of practice and facility standards
  • Lead the multidisciplinary team at unit level to maintain high-quality patient care
  • Coordinate clinical training and research initiatives to enhance service delivery
  • Implement and monitor compliance with nursing legislation, the Health Act, and the Patient Rights Charter
  • Facilitate effective communication with patients, multidisciplinary health professionals, and junior colleagues
  • Manage time and workloads for the unit to ensure uninterrupted nursing services
  • Build and maintain professional networks to enhance departmental service delivery
  • Uphold and advocate for Batho Pele principles to ensure patient-centered care and treatment.

Remunaration

R693096 per annum, plus 13th Cheque, Housing Allowance, Medical Aid (Optional), Employee must meet the prescribed requirements
