Requirements
- Grade 1: 0-5 years post-specialist registration
- Grade 2: 5-10 years post-specialist registration
- Grade 3: 10+ years post-specialist registration. (Note: Foreign candidates require +1 year additional experience).
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide specialist paediatric clinical services across the Pietermaritzburg Metropolitan Complex
- Supervise and evaluate junior medical staff including Interns, Medical Officers, and Registrars via EPMDS
- Lead academic training for undergraduate and postgraduate students in affiliation with UKZN
- Participate in the departmental outreach program to the facility's catchment area
- Oversee clinical quality through audits, morbidity/mortality reviews, and protocol development
- Drive Quality Improvement Programs (QIP) and Quality Assurance Programs (QAP) within a metropolitan portfolio
- Lead multidisciplinary meetings, grand ward rounds, and paediatric resuscitation initiatives
- Conduct relevant clinical research and maintain databases for specific disease profiles and neonatal care
- Perform commuted overtime duties in accordance with metropolitan departmental needs

- Grade 1: R1341855 - R1422810 PER ANNUM, (PACKAGE).
- Grade 2: R1531032 - R1623609 PER ANNUM, (PACKAGE).
- Grade 3: R1773222 - R2212680 PER ANNUM, (PACKAGE) OTHER BENEFITS: 13TH CHEQUE, PLUS 18% INHOSPITABLE AREA ALLOWANCE, COMMUTED OVERTIME AND MEDICAL AID: OPTIONAL (EMPLOYEE MUST MEET PRESCRIBED REQUIREMENTS).
