Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience
- Must be registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineer (Mechanical).
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Develop and customize functional and technical mechanical engineering norms and standards for educational facilities
- Monitor infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with approved engineering principles, codes of practice, and national standards
- Conduct feasibility studies and investigate innovative service delivery mechanisms for mechanical installations
- Prepare comprehensive technical specifications, briefing documentation, and mechanical design data sheets
- Undertake investigations of mechanical equipment and installations, implementing corrective measures where necessary
- Provide expert technical advice and professional engineering reports, including life cycle cost analysis and infrastructure assessments
- Oversee the construction, implementation, and commissioning phases of mechanical engineering maintenance and new projects
- Perform continuous research on new technologies and legal frameworks to update the Department's infrastructure planning framework.
