- Expertise in engineering design and analysis with Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) applications
- Advanced knowledge of the Engineering Professional Act and Gauteng Infrastructure Act
- Proficiency in National Land Transport Act and relevant architectural legislation
- Strategic Programme and Project Management skills
- Technical report writing and professional judgement
- Knowledge of GPG executive structures and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
Requirements
- Three years post-qualification Engineering Technologist experience
- Compulsory professional registration with ECSA as an Engineering Technologist
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Evaluate and approve geometric, bridge, and stormwater engineering designs submitted by service providers
- Assess infrastructure applications against Departmental technical standards and regulatory frameworks
- Execute in-house drafting of preliminary and detailed engineering designs
- Compile comprehensive design reports for executive approval by the DDG: Roads Branch
- Manage and implement in-house civil projects including DLTC infrastructure, road surfacing, and intersection upgrades
- Oversee Capital Project Management including the creation of tender documents and detailed scopes of work
- Manage service provider appointments and monitor deliverables against strict timelines and budgetary constraints
- Provide technical oversight on provincial road intersection upgrades requested by the public
