- Thorough knowledge of National Industrial Policy Framework and National Trade & Investment policies
- Proficiency in Provincial Industrial Development Strategy (PIDS) and National Development Plan
- Advanced understanding of Integrated Policy Action Plan (IPAP2) and New Growth Path (GP)
- Mastery of PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and Public Service Act
- Strategic capability, leadership, and high-level negotiation skills
- Expertise in global trade implications and economic modelling
- Stakeholder coordination and community outreach management
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of experience at a Middle/Senior Managerial level
- Extensive experience in trade and investment promotions
- Knowledge of global, provincial, and national trade issues
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Promote and facilitate rapid business response strategies to mitigate investor exodus and business closures in the province
- Manage and facilitate high-level engagements with social partners to drive provincial industrial development
- Represent departmental interests in multilateral commodity institutions regarding trade promotion initiatives and agreements
- Lead the development and implementation of trade and investment policies, strategies, and programs
- Oversee the integration of Operation Sukuma Sakhe and the District Development Model (DDM) within trade initiatives
- Manage the human and financial resources of the Directorate in compliance with the PFMA
- Drive provincial initiatives for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) attraction and business retention
- Conduct strategic research and knowledge management to inform provincial trade policy
