Minimum Qualification

NQF 7 Bachelor's Degree in Transport Management, Traffic Law Enforcement, Public Administration, or Social Sciences

Experience Required

5 years middle/senior management in Middle

Required Competencies & Skills

  • Strategic direction in road safety and transport management
  • Expert knowledge of National Road Traffic Act and AARTO Regulations
  • Proficiency in Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Public Service Regulations
  • High-level decision-making and impact analysis capabilities
  • Strategic financial management and compliance
  • Advanced stakeholder relationship management and leadership.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience at a Middle or Senior Managerial Level
  • Extensive experience in transport, traffic management, or safety environments
  • Proven track record in designing, monitoring, and evaluating road safety intervention systems.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Lead the development and implementation of provincial road traffic safety programs and operational plans
  • Coordinate collaborative road safety projects with NGOs, SANRAL, local municipalities, and national departments
  • Oversee public educational campaigns and safety workshops targeted at academic institutions and the general public
  • Facilitate the functioning of Road Safety Forums and maintain strategic stakeholder relationships
  • Conduct research to identify hazardous locations and develop data-driven intervention strategies
  • Manage the provincial Traffic Training College and ensure alignment with national safety standards
  • Execute national road safety mandates including 'Arrive Alive' and festive season projects
  • Direct the Directorate's resource management including human capital, financial accountability, and asset control.

Salary Detail

Remunaration

R1266714 per annum (Level 13), (an all-inclusive package). The remuneration package consists of the basic salary (70% of the package) and a flexible portion of 30% that may be structured in terms of the applicable rules 78 which includes Government's contribution to the Government Employee Pension Fund - 13% of the basic salary and flexible portion which may be structured in terms of the rules for the structuring of the flexible portion and which include a 13th cheque, motor car allowance, home owner's allowance and medical aid assistance. The successful candidate will be required to enter into a performance agreement within three months after assumption of duty.
