LLB Degree (NQF Level 7) or equivalent (B Uris, B Proc, BA Law/B Com Law with LLB)

5 years (Middle/Senior Management) in Legal Advisory and Practice Management

• Extensive knowledge of South African civil and criminal procedures
• Deep understanding of the legislative framework governing the Public Service and Health sectors
• Advanced legal drafting and technical advisory skills
• Proficiency in managing human and financial resources in a public sector environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong human relations capabilities
• Strategic management and operational planning expertise
• High-level computer literacy (MS Office suite).

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience at a middle or senior managerial level in a legal practice
• Formal admission to practice as an Advocate or an Attorney in the High Court of South Africa.

• Provide strategic leadership and overall management of the Litigation, Contracts, and Legislation sub-components
• Deliver comprehensive legal advisory services, including formal legal opinions and in-depth legal research
• Oversee the legal drafting services for the department, including the vetting and technical drafting of all departmental contracts
• Develop, implement, and monitor departmental policies and systems within a specific legal framework to ensure statutory compliance
• Manage the effective and efficient utilization of the component's human, financial, and physical resources
• Advise the department on civil and criminal procedures and all legal matters impacting healthcare operations
• Ensure that the department adheres to both National and Provincial health legislation and Public Service frameworks.
