- In-depth knowledge of the Civilian Oversight for Police Service Act and SAPS Act
- Proficiency in the National Crime Prevention Strategy and Integrated Crime and Violence Prevention Strategy
- High-level strategic financial management and accountability
- Ability to lead complex teams and foster capacity building
- Advanced report writing and research capabilities
- Expertise in public service legislative prescripts.
Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience at a Middle or Senior Managerial Level within a crime prevention, research, or safety management environment
- Proven experience in the development, implementation, and review of Provincial or National Safety Strategies
- Extensive track record in monitoring and evaluating public service performance specifically related to law enforcement.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Lead the initiation and management of national crime and violence prevention programs and strategies within the Province
- Coordinate multi-sectoral stakeholder engagements involving NGOs, interfaith, and traditional leaders to address root causes of crime
- Provide strategic oversight and support for the rollout of Community Policing Forums (CPFs) and Community Safety Forums (CSFs)
- Conduct rigorous monitoring and evaluation of SAPS compliance regarding crime prevention policies and service delivery
- Formulate and implement evidence-based crime prevention policies and safety awareness campaigns
- Deliver high-level policy advice to the Provincial Commissioner through the Chief Director: Civilian Secretariat
- Represent the Department in intergovernmental liaison structures and various safety committees
- Ensure optimal management of the Directorate's human, financial, and asset resources in line with the PFMA.
