Experience Required

5 years middle/senior management in Middle

Required Competencies & Skills

  • Strategic direction in community safety environments
  • In-depth knowledge of the Civilian Oversight for Police Service Act and SAPS Act
  • Proficiency in the National Crime Prevention Strategy and Integrated Crime and Violence Prevention Strategy
  • High-level strategic financial management and accountability
  • Ability to lead complex teams and foster capacity building
  • Advanced report writing and research capabilities
  • Expertise in public service legislative prescripts.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience at a Middle or Senior Managerial Level within a crime prevention, research, or safety management environment
  • Proven experience in the development, implementation, and review of Provincial or National Safety Strategies
  • Extensive track record in monitoring and evaluating public service performance specifically related to law enforcement.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Lead the initiation and management of national crime and violence prevention programs and strategies within the Province
  • Coordinate multi-sectoral stakeholder engagements involving NGOs, interfaith, and traditional leaders to address root causes of crime
  • Provide strategic oversight and support for the rollout of Community Policing Forums (CPFs) and Community Safety Forums (CSFs)
  • Conduct rigorous monitoring and evaluation of SAPS compliance regarding crime prevention policies and service delivery
  • Formulate and implement evidence-based crime prevention policies and safety awareness campaigns
  • Deliver high-level policy advice to the Provincial Commissioner through the Chief Director: Civilian Secretariat
  • Represent the Department in intergovernmental liaison structures and various safety committees
  • Ensure optimal management of the Directorate's human, financial, and asset resources in line with the PFMA.

Salary Detail

Remunaration

R1266714 per annum (Level 13), (an all-inclusive package). The remuneration package consists of the basic salary (70% of the package) and a flexible portion of 30% that may be structured in terms of the applicable rules which includes Government's contribution to the Government Employee Pension Fund - 13% of the basic salary and flexible portion which may be structured in terms of the rules for the structuring of the flexible portion and which include a 13th cheque, motor car allowance, home owner's allowance and medical aid assistance. The successful candidate will be required to enter into a performance agreement within three months after assumption of duty.
