- Expert understanding of Aerotropolis theory and airport-centric economic growth engines
- Advanced knowledge of global value chains, intermodal transport (air, road, rail), and logistics infrastructure
- Proficiency in urban planning, spatial development, and sustainable master planning frameworks
- Mastery of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and infrastructure financing models
- In-depth knowledge of KZN Integrated Aerotropolis Strategy and Durban Aerotropolis Master Plan
- Command of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Public Service Regulations
- Strategic capability in investment attraction and regional economic modelling
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience at a Middle or Senior Managerial level in the Transport and/or Aviation Sector
- Completion of Nyukela SMS Pre-entry Certificate
- Valid driver's licence
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide strategic leadership for the implementation of the Durban Aerotropolis Master Plan and the Integrated Aerotropolis Strategy
- Direct the execution of the KZN Regional Airport Strategy to enhance regional connectivity
- Lead knowledge advancement and skills development initiatives within the Aerotropolis and Aviation industry
- Provide high-level technical economic support and data-driven insights for Aerotropolis development
- Oversee the administrative, risk management, and budgeting processes for the Aerotropolis Development unit
- Manage human resources and foster a high-performance culture within the Directorate
- Facilitate alignment between urban planning, transport logistics, and commercial economic hubs
- Ensure compliance with South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) and ICAO regulations within developmental frameworks
