- Computer literacy (Advanced Excel and financial systems)
Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience in an accounting environment
- At least three (3) years must be at an Assistant Director or junior management level
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Drive adherence to Generally Recognized Accounting Practice (GRAP) standards within municipalities
- Ensure timeous submission of credible and accurate Annual Financial Statements (AFS)
- Monitor and report on the implementation of National and Provincial Treasury reforms
- Conduct readiness assessments for municipalities regarding the compilation of year-end financial records
- Perform quality reviews on submitted financial statements to identify material misstatements
- Strategize and implement interventions to improve audit outcomes across Free State municipalities
- Provide professional accounting services and advisory support to enhance municipal financial management
- Enforce compliance with accounting and asset management regulatory frameworks
- Lead and manage the Sub-directorate's human and financial resources for operational efficiency
- Report on municipal financial health and statutory compliance to executive leadership
