Experience Required

3 years in a labour relations environment

Required Competencies & Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of the Labour Relations Act (LRA), Public Service Act, and Public Service Regulations
  • Mastery of negotiation, dispute resolution, and mediation techniques
  • In-depth understanding of Collective Agreements and Bargaining Council structures
  • Strategic policy formulation and interpretation skills
  • Strong facilitation and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite for case management and reporting
  • Ability to manage complex conflict situations under pressure

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience at a junior management level within a labour relations environment
  • Valid Driver's Licence

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Lead and manage the departmental grievance and dispute resolution mechanisms to ensure procedural and substantive fairness
  • Oversee and direct all formal disciplinary processes in accordance with the Public Service disciplinary code
  • Facilitate and lead collective bargaining sessions and maintain healthy relationships with organized labour unions
  • Develop and implement labour relations policies and strategies aimed at improving overall departmental service delivery
  • Manage the human and financial resources allocated to the Labour Relations Sub-Directorate
  • Provide expert advisory services to senior management on the interpretation of the Labour Relations Act and Public Service Regulations
  • Monitor and report on labour stability trends within the department
