Minimum Qualification

NQF level 6 or higher qualification in Engineering as recognized by SAQA.

Experience Required

5 years in Infrastructure Project Management and Civil/Mechanical Engineering

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience
  • At least three (3) years must be at Assistant Director level or equivalent within the infrastructure/engineering field
  • Professional registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Lead and coordinate all technical aspects of facility construction projects and lifecycle maintenance
  • Oversee project planning, implementation monitoring, and evaluation using standard project management methodologies
  • Formulate the Procurement Strategy and develop the Infrastructure Programme Management Plan (IPMP)
  • Monitor Implementing Agents (IA) to ensure strict adherence to Service Delivery Agreements and project timelines
  • Direct the implementation of infrastructure projects managed internally by the Department
  • Review and authorize the Infrastructure Programme Implementation Plan (IPIP) submitted by external agents
  • Evaluate departmental projects for funding eligibility and ensure compliance with built environment norms and legislative standards
  • Oversee project close-out procedures and finalize technical reports
  • Conduct research into emerging engineering technologies and geographical information management to enhance departmental infrastructure viability.
