Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Lead the provincial strategy for reactive compliance and enforcement services
- Oversee compliance monitoring regarding the National Environmental Management Biodiversity Act
- Drive environmental impact mitigation to promote sustainable development and public health
- Direct air quality management and the regulation of hazardous substances
- Implement provincial waste management strategies and information systems
- Support local government in waste minimization and service delivery in Gauteng
- Integrate environmental policy, planning, and coordination across all spheres of government
- Promote biodiversity conservation and sustainable natural resource utilization for community upliftment
- Provide strategic leadership for biodiversity scientific services
- Manage the executive support budget, ensuring strict PFMA compliance and expenditure control
