Qualification allowing registration with HPCSA as a Supervised Dental Assistant

Experience Required

4 years appropriate experience in Dental Chairside Assisting and Patient Care

Required Competencies & Skills

  • Proficiency in dental procedure isolation techniques
  • Knowledge of dental charting and health information recording
  • Expertise in infection control and sterilization processes
  • Strong interpersonal and patient management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a clinical team
  • Computer literacy and time management
  • Code 10 driver's license (recommended)

  • 4 years appropriate experience assisting patients with physical care/daily living activities

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare and organize dental instruments and materials specifically required for various oral procedures
  • Implement and maintain strict infection control protocols within the dental clinic environment
  • Collect and accurately record patient health information, including dental charting
  • Facilitate efficient instrument transfer during procedures to assist the dental operator
  • Assist in patient management and chairside support during various dental treatments
  • Maintain a clean and sterile clinical workspace in line with health and safety standards
