Frequently Asked Questions

While the requirement states 'experience in ICD-10 code assignment is an advantage,' it is highly recommended. You will be expected to link clinical diagnoses to specific codes that funders use to pay claims.
The primary goal is revenue optimization. You act as a bridge between clinical care and billing, ensuring that the hospital is correctly reimbursed by medical aids, the Road Accident Fund (RAF), and other third-party funders by ensuring accurate coding and authorization.
This is specifically noted as a 'Non-OSD' post at Level 8. This means the salary is fixed to the standard Public Service levels rather than the Occupational Specific Dispensation typically used for bedside nursing.
