Minimum Qualification

  • NQF Level 6 Tertiary Qualification (3-year Diploma/Degree) in Traffic, Management, or Law
  • Basic Traffic Officer's Diploma

Experience Required

7-10 years in Traffic Law Enforcement Supervision

Required Competencies & Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of Traffic Management policies, National Road Traffic Act, and Public Transport regulations
  • Proficiency in vehicle inspections, impoundment procedures, and advanced driving skills
  • Advanced leadership, planning, and organizational skills within a law enforcement context
  • Sound knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations
  • Expertise in project management, mentoring, and coaching subordinates
  • High-level computer literacy and analytical thinking
  • Strong negotiation and community relationship management skills (e.g., liaison with Community Police Forums)
  • Ability to manage service delivery improvements and administrative compliance

Requirements

  • Registered as a Traffic Officer
  • 3-5 years' supervisory experience in Traffic Law Enforcement
  • 7-10 years' total working experience in Traffic Law Enforcement
  • Valid Code A and EC Driving Licences
  • No Criminal Record

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage the implementation of the operational law enforcement plan for the station or center
  • Complete environmental analyses to serve as a baseline for regional strategic planning
  • Monitor and evaluate annual performance plan (APP) targets on a monthly basis
  • Coordinate integrated partnerships with local authorities and other Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs)
  • Oversee the optimal operation of Testing Centre Stations (TCS) and ensure compliance with departmental policies
  • Manage administrative systems, including the weekly inspection of registers and the submission of accurate statistics
  • Lead Human Resource processes, including performance management, grievance handling, and quarterly team-building activities
  • Oversee Financial Management by monitoring monthly expenditure, managing overtime planning, and responding to budget queries
  • Ensure rigorous Asset Management, including fleet maintenance, accident monitoring, and loss control for firearms and equipment
