Frequently Asked Questions

National Treasury regulations mandate that departments pay valid invoices within 30 days to support SMME sustainability and avoid interest charges. As Assistant Director, you are personally responsible for the tracking systems that prevent delays.
You will likely be given a list of invoices and a bank statement and asked to perform a Creditor Reconciliation, or asked to identify 'fruitless and wasteful expenditure' from a set of payment vouchers.
SCOA stands for Standard Chart of Accounts. It is the classification system used across government to record financial transactions. You must know which codes to use for specific types of expenditure to avoid 'misallocations'.
