  • High-level confidentiality and integrity in handling state finances
  • Ability to communicate financial procedures effectively across various departmental levels
  • Sound knowledge of Labour Relations and staff management protocols

Requirements

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide professional accounting and banking services for the Department
  • Facilitate interdepartmental communication to ensure seamless financial operations
  • Enforce procedural compliance with the PFMA (Act 1 of 1999) and National Treasury Regulations
  • Maintain and reconcile Suspense Accounts, providing regular status updates to management
  • Ensure effective and accurate record-keeping within the Basic Accounting System (BAS)
  • Manage human resources and facilitate the professional development of subordinate staff
  • Interpret and apply complex financial legislation, including the Income Tax Act and Treasury Practice Notes
  • Utilize SCOA (Standard Chart of Accounts) and Persal systems for financial data management
