Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide professional accounting and banking services for the Department
- Facilitate interdepartmental communication to ensure seamless financial operations
- Enforce procedural compliance with the PFMA (Act 1 of 1999) and National Treasury Regulations
- Maintain and reconcile Suspense Accounts, providing regular status updates to management
- Ensure effective and accurate record-keeping within the Basic Accounting System (BAS)
- Manage human resources and facilitate the professional development of subordinate staff
- Interpret and apply complex financial legislation, including the Income Tax Act and Treasury Practice Notes
- Utilize SCOA (Standard Chart of Accounts) and Persal systems for financial data management
