For the first time in its 30-year history, Zip Zap Circus will bring together performers from across three generations in their electrifying new show, Chasing Dreams .
Running this July at Cape Town's The Dome, the production promises a fusion of high-flying acrobatics, heart-stopping aerial acts, and a powerful story of perseverance, all made into a family-friendly spectacle, Cape town Etc reports.
Founded in the early 1990s with little more than a trapeze bar and a rusty car, Zip Zap began as a passion project for co-founders Brent van Rensburg and Laurence Esteve. Their vision? To use circus arts to unite South Africa's youth during a transformative era.
The plan was to just find a way to use our experience in the circus world to bring kids together while they play. We wanted to give children from all communities a sense of hope for the future. Nelson Mandela spoke of the Rainbow Nation, and we aimed to play our part in making that hope for a better future become a reality, says Van Rensburg.
Now, Chasing Dreams showcases that legacy in action, as the production features:
