Zambia is taking a leading role in digital health innovation, as evidenced by its participation in the 2025 Health Informatics in Africa HELINA Conference held in Gaborone, Botswana. Mr. Kalamatila Ngoi, the Director of Standards and Compliance at the e-Government Division SMART Zambia Institute , represented the country at the high-level event.

Mr. Ngoi participated in a panel discussion focused on localizing the World Health Organizations WHO SMART Guidelines Digital Adaptation Kits DAKs. This effort is crucial for Zambia, as it aligns with the countrys Digital Health Strategy 2022-2026, which aims to improve healthcare delivery, reduce errors, and enhance access to quality care for all citizens. By embracing and adapting these global tools, Zambia can better implement digital health solutions and accelerate the digital transformation of its health sector.

Zambias active involvement in the conference underscores its commitment to innovation and leveraging technology to improve public well-being. The countrys initiatives in digital health are a key part of its broader national development plan to become a prosperous, middle-income nation by 2030.
