The winner of the 2025 Western Cape Young Farmer Award, Francois Rossouw, says South African farmers have a vital role to play in driving economic growth and creating employment opportunities.
He says this during an awards ceremony held in Paarl, in the Boland region.
30-year-old Rossouw manages a 300-hectare table grape farm near De Doorns , in the Hex River Valley.
He emphasises that agriculture is key to ensuring food security and improving the quality of life in rural communities.
The young farmer award of the Western Cape gives me the opportunity to set standards and to be an example in our province, but also in our country, to show them what it takes to be a farmer, but also what it takes to be in agriculture to the next generation.
