The Board of Control for Cricket in India BCCI on Monday announced a huge prize purse for the Indian women's cricket team following their historic ODI World Cup victory against the Proteas. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told the press that the team members, along with the support staff, will be handed a total prize money of INR 51 crore in recognition of their surreal achievement.
India posted a commendable total of 298/7 in their 50 overs after South Africa skipper Laura Wolvaardt won the toss and opted to field first. Shafali Verma top-scored for the Women in Blue, smashing a career-best 87 off just 78 balls. Deepti Sharma also batted well for her run-a-ball 58.
