India won the second semi-final of the Women's World Cup 2025, defeating Australia by five wickets and nine deliveries to spare at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Thursday, October 30. India will play their third final of the Women's World Cup in their cricketing history as they will take on South Africa on November 2 at the same venue.
Speaking of the second semi-final, Phoebe Litchfield 119 off 93 and Ellyse Perry 77 off 88 stitched a 155-run stand off only 133 balls for the second wicket before Ashleigh Gardner struck a brisk half-century 63 off 45. However, a late choke by India meant Australia were bowled out for 338 in 49.5 overs. Shree Charani 2/49 in 10 overs was the pick of the bowlers.
Kim Garth picked India's first couple of wickets inside the powerplay, sending back Shafali Verma 10 off 5 and Smriti Mandhana 24 off 24. Jemimah Rodrigues put up a massive 167-run stand along with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur 89 off 88 to bring India closer to history while Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh contributed with crucial 20s. Jemimah remained unbeaten till the end 127 off 134 to be the star of the run-chase.
