A witness at the Madlanga commission has revealed that the polices head of organised crime, Maj-Gen Richard Shibiri, told him that Katiso KT Molefe was connected to people who were close friends with EFF leader Julius Malema, who was friends with the suspended deputy national commissioner for crime detection, Lt-Gen Shadrack Sibiya.
Witness A, whose name cannot be disclosed, told the commission that after Molefe was arrested in connection with the murder of whistleblower engineer Armand Swart, Shibiri called him into a meeting and told him that the people connected to Molefe were heartless and would do anything to get their way.
He Shibiri told me that Molefe is part of the group of five individuals with an interest in mining in the North West.
