Bring out the blankets and warm beverages , the South African Weather Service SAWS has issued a weather advisory for wet, cold and windy conditions, reports Cape town Etc .
According to the weather service, two cold frontal systems are expected to make landfall from Monday, 19 May, bringing about heavy rainfall, strong winds and choppy seas until the end of Wednesday, 21 May.
The less intense first cold front is expected to hit the western parts of the province on Monday, acting as a precursor to the more severe cold front, which will come in the next day.
The persistent and continuous rainy conditions may lead to localised floods, particularly in areas with poor drainage and low-lying regions, warned SAWS in a statement. Strong and gusty westerly to north-westerly winds, with wind speeds averaging between 55 and 65kph, are expected across the Western Cape, Northern Cape and the Eastern Cape - especially over the interior.
In its initial advisory, SAWS warned: The public and small stock farmers are advised that very cold conditions, heavy rainfall, snowfalls, strong to gale force winds and very rough seas can be expected.
