The Ministry of Water and Sanitation says it is concerned about the recent surge in typhoid cases in Hammanskraal , which had only recently recovered from a cholera outbreak.
A total of 48 typhoid fever cases has been reported in Hammanskraal, Bronkhorstspruit and other parts of Pretoria since January.
According to officials, findings show that the water supply is not the source of contamination, with tests confirming no presence of Salmonella Typhi bacteria in Tshwanes water systems, including those managed by Magalies and Rand Water.
