A South African traveller's grocery run in the United States has sparked both laughter and disbelief online after he documented the jaw-dropping differences between local stores back home and American supermarkets, Cape town Etc reports.

In his now-viral TikTok video, Cape Town-based content creator troybenderr takes viewers through an American grocery store, comparing everything from the sheer volume of products to the strange and sometimes questionable food options on the shelves.

From the moment he walked in, the culture shock hit hard. ' I was met with a rainbow of Coke flavours, but most of them tasted awful, ' he quipped, reacting to the cooldrink aisle that seemed to stretch for miles.

In South Africa, shoppers are used to a few cooldrink options, not entire aisles dedicated to every variation under the sun.

It wasn't just the drinks that raised eyebrows. Frozen foods had their own empire. ' There were at least 10 aisles just for frozen stuff, the fridges are massive ,' he said, showing shelves filled with ready-made corn dogs, pizza-flavoured soup, and family-sized boxes of processed meals. ' It felt like the food was made for giants .'
