Pep Guardiola's side made it two wins from two , matching Juventus' six-point tally but sitting second on goal difference ahead of their decisive clash on Thursday.

Al Ain, meanwhile, exit the tournament with back-to-back 5-0 and 6-0 defeats to Juventus and City.

The win also marked Guardiola's 10th victory in 10 Club World Cup matches, maintaining a perfect record across his spells with Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and now City.

Only one of the two anticipated Egyptian players took part today. Ramy Rabia started for Al Ain and played the full 90 minutes, while Omar Marmoush remained on the City bench.

Ilkay Gundogan opened the scoring with a neat lob in the 8th minute, followed by a free-kick from Claudio Echeverri in the 27th. Erling Haaland added the third from the spot just before halftime, making it 3-0 at the break.

Following a slow start to the second half, Gundogan bagged his second goal in the 72nd minute, before Oscar Bobb added a fifth and Rayan Cherki capped the scoring in the 89th.

Manchester City pressed for a seventh late on in an effort to leapfrog Juventus on goal difference, but couldn't add further damage.

With Wydad Casablanca also eliminated, Manchester City and Juventus will battle for top spot and a potentially easier path in the knockout rounds.
