Bayern Munich have unveiled Colombian winger, Luis Diaz after completing his move from Premier League champions, Liverpool. Softfootball had been following the events as they were unfolding between Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

Diaz missed Liverpools preseason game against AC Milan, which Liverpool lost 4-2. Liverpool head coach, Arne Slot had confirmed that the player was omitted due to his transfer request after the game. Darwin Nunez is the other player to have been omitted for the same reason.

The Colombian winger eventually completed his move for a fee of 65.5m after he told the Reds he wanted to leave this summer and Liverpool had rejected Bayern Munichs first offer of 58.6m and insisted they valued Diaz more than 60m.

The 28-year-old, who signed a 4 year deal till 2029 with the German champions was unveiled today as a new Bavarian. Bayern Munich announced Diaz with a video posted on their social media handles.

Bayern had wanted o buy sign a winger this summer. They had eyes on Spanish winger, Nico Williams who snubbed them to sign an 8 years extension with his club Athletic Bilbao and as a result an increase in his release clause.

The signing of a new attacker became even paramount for Bayern as youngster, Jamal Musiala is ruled out for a long spell having got injured during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Diaz joined Liverpool from Porto for a fee in the range of 37m in January 2022, scoring 41 goals, 23 assists in 148 matches while playing for the Reds. He won the FA Cup, EFL Cup twice and the Premier League with Liverpool.

At Porto, he won two league league titles, two Taca de Portugal and the Portuguese Super Cup. The Colombian will join Harry Kane and Michael Olise in the attack for Bayern Munich next season as they look to defend the German Bundesliga and lay hands on the UEFA Champions League again.
