The Saudi giants' goals came by way of Salem Al Dawsari and Marcus Leonardo, sending Al Hilal through as Group H runners-up behind Real Madrid.
Salem Al Dawsari opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a moment of individual brilliance. Cutting in from the left, the Al Hilal captain struck a bouncing shot with his right foot that looped over goalkeeper Sebastian Jurado and into the top corner.
While Pachuca pushed forward in search of an equalizer, they were left exposed late in stoppage time. Marcus Leonardo capitalized, weaving past Jurado and slotting home his first goal of the tournament to ensure Al Hilal's progression.
With the win, Al Hilal finished the group stage on five points following earlier draws against Real Madrid and Red Bull Salzburg . Pachuca, meanwhile, exited the tournament without a win.
The victory also saw Salem Al Dawsari make history, becoming the all-time leading Arab scorer in Club World Cup history with five goals, surpassing Egypt's Mohamed Aboutrika and Hussein El Shahat, who each have four.
Al Hilal now face a major test in the round of 16, a knockout clash against Premier League champions Manchester City.
