The U.S. Embassy in Nigeria has announced a suspension of routine updates on its official X formerly Twitter account following a partial shutdown of the U.S. government.
In a statement released on Wednesday, October 1, the Embassy said the pause was a result of a lapse in appropriations, the diplomatic phrase for when Congress fails to pass a budget or temporary funding bill. The impasse has forced many U.S. government operations to scale back.
Due to the lapse in appropriations, this X account will not be updated regularly until full operations resume, with the exception of urgent safety and security information, the Embassy said.
