United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has joined world leaders in paying tribute to the late former Zambian President Edgar Lungu.
Lungu passed away yesterday after receiving medical treatment in a Pretoria hospital.
His death has seen condolences coming in far and wide.
Guterres says former President Lungu made significant contributions to diplomacy and spearheaded key infrastructure projects in the country during his tenure.
Southern African Development Community chair and Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa says Lungu will always be fondly remembered as a dedicated servant of the people and an astute leader who served his people with utmost distinction, humility and honour.
