United Arab Bank UAB has announced the successful issuance of its UAB Jaywan Prepaid Card, developed in collaboration with Network International, IDEMIA Secure Transactions, and Al Etihad Payments AEP - a subsidiary of the Central Bank of the UAE CBUAE and the official operator of Jaywan, the UAE's national card scheme. This achievement reflects UAB's ongoing commitment to financial inclusion and digital innovation, in alignment with the UAE's broader Cashless Economy and Payments Transformation Agenda.
The launch event was attended by key leaders from UAB, including Shirish Bhide, Chief Executive Officer Emre Yalcin, Head of Retail Banking and Dr. Abdulla Altaee, Chief Operating Officer. Also in attendance was Murat Cagri Suzer, Group CEO of Network International, highlighting the significance of this collaboration between leading financial and payments technology institutions.
The introduction of the UAB Jaywan Prepaid Card represents an important step in supporting the UAE's vision to localize and strengthen its payments infrastructure. The Jaywan scheme, managed by AEP, aims to provide a homegrown payment network that reduces reliance on international systems while promoting cost efficiency, secure transactions, and wider access to financial services for residents across the Emirates.
